The Circle of Eight was a mercenary group of unspecified size and composition operating during the Third Succession War.[1]
History[edit]
In 3015, the rogue mercenary group Circle of Eight was intent on pillaging a Star League supply depot that Interstellar Expeditions uncovered at an excavation site on Brookeland Prime. It was potentially a forgotten city destroyed hundreds of years prior in the early Succession Wars which had the [unlikely] possibility of containing a data core, whether destroyed, corrupted, or heavily encrypted.[1]
The Circle of Eight sent several waves of armor and airborne units and caught the mercenary outfit protecting the dig site by surprise, inflicting heavy losses. Just as they were about to secure the area, Sebastian Spears sent Nik's Cavaliers to reinforce the defenders and help push the attackers back, forcing the Circle of Eight to send a DropShip down with a couple of medium BattleMechs. Officer Iago Herrera radioed the defenders of their claim to the site and offered to spare their lives if they left, but they defied his warning and eliminated the rest of their forces. A new mercenary outfit arrived to secure the site, insuring its protection and discouraging the Circle of Eight from further hostilities.[1]
