Plot Summary[edit]
The story is told from the perspective of Precentor Malcolm Buhl, a high ranking ComStar member who aims to reform the Com Guards in the Dark Age era, and takes place on Epsilon Eridani at two different points in time. Initially, Buhl is full of enthusiasm about the future and ComStar's place in it when he receives information that the long-lost Star League depot has been found. Before jumping 14 years forward, where the now desperate Buhl witnesses the last stand of his reformed First Com Guards Division against Republic of the Sphere forces before dying at the hands of enemy Xiphos battle armor.
