Clan Hell's Horses got their taste of an Occupation Zone after the Refusal War. Horse Khan Malavai Fletcher was a part of Asa Taney's Home Clan Coalition until the creation of the Harvest Trials. This trial would allow Homeworld Clan units to join Operation Revival under the banner of either Clan Wolf or Clan Jade Falcon, as a way to weaken the Home Clans' strength while rebuilding their own. Seizing the opportunity for the Horses to join the Inner Sphere, Khan Fletcher would offer his Clan and unit to Wolf Khan Vlad Ward in exchange for keeping their loyalty to their parent Clan. Khan Ward agreed and gifted the Horses three of their worlds to them. They would later be ejected from the Inner Sphere following their defeat by Clan Ghost Bear after the First Combine-Dominion War. After their return under new leadership, they would take Clan Wolf worlds setting up their influence in the Inner Sphere during the Jihad Era.

History[edit]

Harvest Trials[edit]

Khan Malavai Fletcher was a well-known supporter of Asa Taney's Home Clan Coalition. However, he severed those ties upon hearing about the Harvest Trials. Realizing the opportunity and glory Fletcher could gain by being bid into the Invasion, he proposed a deal to newly elected Wolf Khan, Vlad Ward. This deal would consist of Khan Fletcher giving Khan Ward a unit from his Clan without fighting for it, in turn, the unit would keep their loyalty. Liking the idea, Khan Ward accepted the deal using the Hell's Horses' 91st Mechanized Assault Cluster with Khan Malavai leading them. With this bargain, Malavai now had a little piece of the Inner Sphere for himself.[1]

Great Refusal[edit]

After the defeat of the Crusader Clans during the Great Refusal, Clan Hell's Horses would settle in their new (but small) Occupation Zone. For the next few years, Clan Hell's Horses would play a role in harassing Clan Ghost Bear during their time in the Inner Sphere while they were busy warring with the Draconis Combine. Their raids would go unnoticed until the end of First Combine-Dominion War, where Khan Malavai Fletcher was defeated by Ghost Bear ristar, Jake Kabrinski. This would cause the Hell's Horses to lose their worlds to the Ghost Bears and drive them out the Inner Sphere. Khan Fletcher would be killed for his misconduct and replaced by new Khan, James Cobb.[2]

Jihad Era[edit]

Even though the Hell's Horses had been ejected from the Inner Sphere, they made another return in the 3070s. Clan Ice Hellion was aware of this and offered themselves as allies (though this did little to benefit both parties) to the Hell's Horses. The Ice Hellions did nothing to help the Horses and instead angered them, causing their downfall. Clan Hell's Horses claimed worlds from Clan Wolf in revenge for Malavai's and Vlad's manipulation years ago, while making peace with their age-old rivals in Clan Ghost Bear.[3] With the relocation complete, they would form the Council of Six with the remaining Spheroid Clans. The only remnants of Hell's Horses left behind the Clan Homeworlds became Clan Stone Lion.[4]

Dark Age[edit]

While Clan Hell's Horses enjoyed a relative peace after the Jihad, it would run out when Falcon Khan Malvina Hazen forced Clan Hell's Horses into an unwilling alliance called the Golden Ordun.[5] After a failed attempt to take Hesperus II left the Chinggis Khan incapacitated, the Horses took this opportunity to break away from the alliance and launch Operation NOYAN to purify the Mongol Doctrine that Malvina had tainted. As a result the Horse would gain five worlds from both Clan Jade Falcon and the Rasalhague Dominion. During this time, Clan Hell's Horses annexed Clan Wolf's entire Occupation Zone following their departure to create the Wolf Empire in Lyran space. With Clan Hell's Horses' confidence growing in the aftermath, they felt they could race to Terra. But first, they devised a way to drive themselves further while at the same time, punish Clan Jade Falcon. This would be done in the form of Operation Stampede - a campaign where the Horses claimed many Jade Falcon worlds on their way to Terra, while at the same time, exacting revenge on Clan Jade Falcon for abusing their Mongol Doctrine.[6]

ilClan Era[edit]

After the victory on Terra, it was discovered that the Horses arrived too late to compete in the ilClan Trial. In anger, Horses Khan Gottfried Amirault challenged ilKhan Alaric Ward to a Trial of Refusal feeling robbed that he did not invite the Horses to the Trial. In response, Alaric would refuse Amirault's trial while chastising his efforts and his Mongol Doctrine.[7] Humiliated, Horses leadership would refuse to acknowledge Clan Wolf as the ilClan and redirected Operation Stampede to conquer the rest of the former Jade Falcon Occupation Zone until their defeat at the Battle of Sudeten.[8]
