The Colorado system was home to at least one habitable world, Colorado II, and as of 3145 was located in the Chirikof Operational Area of the Crucis March within the Federated Suns.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Colorado is located near the Noatak and Sparrevohn systems[2][3] and consists of a class G5V primary orbited by at least two planets.[1]

System History[edit]

The Colorado system was settled during the First Exodus from Terra and by the end of the Age of War was a member of the Federated Suns.[4][5]

Colorado II, more commonly referred to simply as Colorado, is the second planet in the system and has two moons named Aspen and Vale.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Colorado was historically the world with the richest germanium deposits within the Federated Suns. This led to extensive strip mining that slowly transformed the planet into an ecological disaster. In the mid-thirty-first century, the more easily-extracted nodes were becoming increasingly scarce, leading one of the companies on the planet, Basantapur Fine Metals, to expand their portfolio in 3053 by purchasing a commercial airline manufacturer that had lapsed into bankruptcy. Commissioned as the Basantapur Fine Metals Aerospace Range, the Basantapur plant was used to perform military refits before being expanded a couple of decades later to produce the Drake Medium Strike Fighter.[1]

Colorado was also the birthplace of Marshal John Chisholm of the AFFS, who retired there in 2892. Taking over the Colorado Planetary Guards, he turned them into a surprisingly capable force that the AFFS federalized as the 1st Chisholm's Raiders.

Geography[edit]

Prior to human occupation, Colorado was a pristine arctic world. The centuries of strip mining that quickly followed its colonization resulted in an ecological disaster. Colorado has four continents named Chaffee, Lincoln, Montrose, and Yuma.[1]
