The Corridan system was home to at least one habitable world, Corridan IV, and as of 3145 was located in the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Corridan is located near the Baxter and Yed Posterior systems[2][3] and consists of a class G4V primary orbited by ten planets, at least one of which is habitable to humans.[1]

System History[edit]

The Corridan system was settled by the Lyran Commonwealth at some point during the Star League era after the end of the Reunification War.[4][5]

Corridan IV is the fourth planet in the system and has a single moon named Muse.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Corridan IV was a keenly sought colony world. The ecosystem was perfect for humans and their crops, with one small exception: The water supply was filled with lethal levels of heavy metals and a bacteria that would make every living plant or animal on the world toxic to humans. To prevent the colony from failing, the first colonists relied on imported water delivered by the iceships of the Ryan Cartel.[1]

After studying the problem for years, a part-time chemical engineer named Gabriel Tal developed a unique fusion filtration system that could economically clean Corridan's water. 95% of all the toxins were removed via this process. Tal kept the process a secret and used it to form Water Pure Industries. This company grew to be the largest of the five Lyran water and air filtration systems manufacturers. Water Pure Industries traded publicly, but the company remained mostly in the hands of the Tal family throughout its history, with the company expanding through the addition of manufacturing sites on both Freedom and Ryde and distribution outlets on a dozen worlds dotted throughout the Federation of Skye. Though destroyed and damaged repeatedly during the Succession Wars, the company has always recovered and even thrived after being attacked - even though the main Corridan manufacturing plant was destroyed for the sixth time during the Jihad.[1]

By the time Corridan was ceded to the Republic of the Sphere, the scars from many raids covered the world. The citizens of Corridan undertook a massive beautification program, and these scars were erased. Combined with the fact that most of the population lives in large cities on Feyrun and Cederban, by the thirty-second century Corridan was once more a beautiful world.[1]

The world's major export in the thirty-second century was still filtration systems, but Corridan was also a noted exporter of agricultural produce and products from the many ranches on the world. Particular exports include certain native fruits and vegetables and meat from the Corridani grazer, a dim-witted creature that was approximately one and a half times the size of a Terran buffalo and which produced meat that strongly resembled beef.[1]

Military Deployment[edit]

  • Twelfth Star Guards[31]

Geography[edit]

Corridan has a three major continents named Alorran, Cederban, and Fayrun; Fayrun lies in the northern hemisphere, while Alorran and Cederban are located in the southern hemisphere.[1]

Planetary Locations[edit]

  • New Austin: the planetary capital city and base of operations for Corridani Forward, the largest shipping concern on the planet. Corridani Forward also operates a private starport located in or near New Austin.[1]
  • Rio Grande: largest city on Corridan IV; located seventy kilometers south of New Austin and the base of operations for Water Pure Industries.[1]
