Canonicity[edit]
This weapon was featured in an official BattleTech product, namely the MechAssault series of computer games.[1][2]
By virtue of being an official albeit not positively canonical product, the game expansion and the weapons and equipment presented therein including this one must be considered apocryphal.
Description[edit]
The Crossbow SRM is a version of the venerable SRM created early in the Jihad featuring improved heat-seeking capabilities.[3] Crossbows are the standard short-range missile used by most of the BattleMechs in this series. BattleMechs may have up to 4 Crossbows in their arsenal. Unlike their long-range counterpart (Javelin LRM), these missiles reload and fire rapidly while doing less damage per missile. It is worth noting that these missiles can be upgraded to fire a 2x or 3x volley per shot, which increases their usefulness over the Javelin LRM at close range.
