Dart Gun

A dart gun is a specialized weapon that fires a dart. The dart is tipped with a hypodermic needle and filled with a sedative, A dart gun containing a sedative is called a tranquillizer gun, tranquilizer gun, tranquilliser gun or tranquiliser gun), derived from the word "tranquil".

Description

With many variants appearing in the Battletech Universe, these types of weapons have been depicted normally as nonlethal small arms used by police and other individuals to incapacitate a person. All variants are designed specifically to fire specialized "darts" via by the use of compressed gases. Darts are described to easily pierce clothing and most animal hides and due to the dart's injecting tip being very brittle, it is not strong enough to penetrate most body armors. These darts have also been depicted as being able to be different types, such as:

• Injectables
  • nonlethal sedatives
  • nonlethal or lethal poisons
• Connected by a wire to the gun and delivers a small electrical shock
