David Baughman was a Word of Blake officer.
History[edit]
By 3069 Baughman was the commanding officer of the Twenty-eighth Division. Baughman led his division against Ascella and achieved a rapid victory without resorting to orbital strikes or strategic weapons releases. Subsequently, in October of the same year, Baughman presided over the raid on Buckminster, where his division's orbital forces helped to destroy the 7th Amphigean Light Assault Group - as well as several cities. After elements of the Wolf Dragoons were relocated to Buckminster in the aftermath of this attack, Baughman's division returned in 3070 supported by the 45th Shadow Division. Baughman led a successful withdrawal after the two divisions shattered Delta Regiment of the Dragoons.[1]
In 3072, Baughman participated in the successful Word of Blake assault on Benjamin in the Draconis Combine. Operating in coordination with the 45th Shadow Division, he accepted the surrender of the 6th Ghost Regiment during the first 24 hours of the invasion, ending most organized resistance and opening the way for the Shadows to commence counter-insurgency operations against the remaining holdouts. The fragmentary records of this action leave it unclear if Baughman ordered the destruction of Benjamin's semi-sun array or the orbital strikes unleashed against DCMS forces. [2]
After returning to Benjamin in 3073 to oversee the evacuation of surviving Shadow Division forces, Baughman pivoted to mobile raiding operations in the Benjamin Military District. Contemporaneous sources speculated that he executed the liquidation of an Arkab delegation to Benjamin in June 3074. [1]

Precentor David Baughman was highlighted as a notable pilot of the Exterminator BattleMech.[3]

- Precentor David Baughman was the canonized character of BattleTech fan David Baughman.
- Adept David Baughman listed in the Kickstarter Backer Database was intended by his eponymous creator to be the same character as the Precentor, circa the Battle of Tukayyid. However, this can't be canonically confirmed until the Adept appears in fiction or source material. [4]
- It's unclear if Justin and Elizabeth Baughman of Terra are related to the Precentor. [5]
