David Feller was the commanding officer of the Word of Blake's Third Division from 3066 to 3073.[1][2][3]

History[edit]

David Feller would join ComStar, serving as a Jump Infantryman in the Com Guard prior to the Clan Invasion. Fighting during the Battle of Tukayyid, Feller would facedown and kill three Clan Nova Cat Elementals with a vibroblade on Tukayyid, a fact that would earn him considerable renown from those infantrymen who would later serve under him. Fellers upon learning of the ComStar Schism refused to serve the secular ComStar and joined the Word of Blake, becoming one of the members of its True Believer sect.[4]

By 3062 Precentor David Feller was executive officer of the Blakist's Third Division, a rarity for an infantryman as normally a MechWarrior or Aerospace pilot would hold such a prestigious position. With the infantrymen in the Third in awe of his actions on Tukayyid, Feller would also serve as buffer for his commander Randolph Kanni with the rest of the unit. With Kanni a fanatical True Believer aggrieved that he was not selected as the Blakist Precentor Martial, and vocal on this fact and his disdain for those unit members who followed the other Blakist sects, it fell to the more moderate Fellers who spent most of his time in the wake of Operation ODYSSESUS soothing ruffled feathers and easing tensions with non-True Believers.[4]

David Fellers would ultimately replace Randolph Kanni as commander of the entire Third Division in 3066, becoming the first infantryman to command a Word of Blakist Division. While still heavily dominated by True Believers thanks to Kanni's temperament leading other sects to transfer out of the division, the morale of the Third improved immeasurably under the more moderate Feller who also undersaw almost the entire division's infantry forces being upgraded with battle armor and strengthening the Third as a whole.[5]

In 3070 the Third Division was augmented with FWL defectors and was dispatched to Wasat to put down an insurrection caused by the Blackhearts mercenary unit.[3] Already present on Wasat were the HeavyHell Raisers and Raymond's Armored Cavalry mercenary units who had been waging an unsuccessful campaign against the Blackhearts. Precentor Fellers found himself faced with a guerrilla campaign that lasted more than two years with the Blackhearts avoiding a stand-up fight. Suffering from the pressure of being unable to cope with the Blackheart's tactics, Fellers eventually threatened the destruction of Wasat Prime, the planetary capital, if the Blackhearts didn't surrender[2]. The Blackhearts instead opted to retreat to their DropShips and escape, to which Fellers responded by using a nuclear device to destroy Wasat Prime after the Blackhearts had departed, killing the 35,000-strong population of the city.[3][6]

In 3073 Precentor Craig Callen relieved Division Commander Feller, who was promoted and sent to take command of a Procyon reeducation camp.[3]
