Description[edit]
The extended-range medium laser (ER medium laser) focuses a powerful beam of light on targets that causes damage by melting or shattering armor off of the target.[1]
As the name suggests, the Extended-Range variant of the medium laser improves the focusing system of the laser to project it to much farther ranges. The optics are less efficient, though, necessitating more input power for the same armor ablation and thus more waste heat in the weapon.
Variants[edit]
In the years between the Second Exodus and the beginning of Operation KLONDIKE the nascent Clans began development of what would become the ER medium laser. One of the first of the advanced weapon types to be developed, experimental prototype versions of this new weapon were used during Operation KLONDIKE in small quantities. The Clan Prototype ER medium laser (ER-ML-CP) available during this period has identical stats to the Inner Sphere ER medium laser, other than that it weighs 1.5 tons.[6]
Models[edit]
The extended-range medium laser is manufactured on the following planets:
Defiance C9M[edit]
The Defiance C9M is a Clan-grade ER medium laser.[7]
