The Dragon's Republic was one of the Pentagon Powers, a collection of warlord states living in the ruins of the Star League in Exile. The Republic occupied most of Arcadia's Rechlan continent.[1]

History[edit]

When it was founded most members of the Dragon's Republic had cultural affinity with the Draconis Combine, but it's success at absorbing other powers on Rechlan reduced those of Combine descent to being a minority, albeit one that continued to dominate the state. A major reason for the Republic's success was its possession of Arcadia's last surviving Brian Cache, which in the aftermath of the Pentagon Civil War served both as a capital for the Republic's Senate and as an unassailable fortress.[1]

The Dragon's Republic was the only power on Arcadia to see the signs of the Clans Operation Klondike and recognize the scope of the invasion. From the Brian Cache the Republic was able to match the massive increase in DropShip activity to the distress calls made by the warlords on other continents, and went onto high alert. As months passed and the transmission stopped, life slowly went back to normal within the Republic. The Republic was not in fact the first target of Clan Star Adder on Rechlan, who instead would move to seize the few remaining city-states on the continent as a beachhead. The Republic soon found itself under siege.[1]

Instead of attempting to storm the formidable defenses of the Brian Cache, the Adders used a campaign of psychological warfare inspired by the deceased Khan Absalom Truscott's experiences during the Amaris Civil War. The Adders used powerful demolition charges, some of them nuclear weapons, to slowly and systematically destroy the cache's exits. After each massive explosion the Adders observed growing numbers of troops fleeing. Eventually, the defenders stopped repairing breaches in the walls, prompting the Adders to enter the cache in force. Adder warriors discovered the surviving Republic forces had been driven insane, and that the Republic's leadership had committed mass suicide three days prior. Having no more use for the ruined structure, the Adders collapsed the Cache with nuclear charges. The Republic's other settlements had by this point already been captured, and the state came to an end. [1]
