Edgar Provenance was a notable officer of the Demeter Militia during the Dark Age Era.[1]
History[edit]
Captain Provenance's company of battle armor troopers were undergoing training when Demeter was invaded by the Capellan Confederation in 3144. Facing off against both Warrior House Ijori and the Third Tikonov Guards proved too much for the planetary militia, although Provenance's soldiers were too cumbersome to join their comrades in their subsequent guerrilla campaign. Instead, they took up station at the military base at Dormant and refused the Tikonov Guards' orders to surrender in an effort to buy time for the rest of the Militia to establish strongpoints in the planet's wilderness. The Tikonov Guards fielded two full companies of conventional infantry supported by two Gùn OmniMechs, although the Capellans' Predator tanks were quickly eliminated by the base's defensive emplacements. As the 'Mech's scaled the fort's walls and destroyed the turrets, Provenance's troopers killed nearly half of the Tikonov infantrymen while waging a cat-and-mouse struggle with the enemy's machines.[1][2]
While Provenance's Magshot Gauss rifles dealt little damage to the hostile 'Mechs, a lucky shot managed to disable a Gùn A's PPC after the 'Mech killed a squad of armored troopers. Unfortunately, the arrival of the rest of the Tikonov Guards' infantry and VTOLs guaranteed the defeat of the militiamen, although their efforts were successful in ensuring the rest of their compatriots established a strong base for further resistance efforts.[1][2]
