The Eighteenth Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
In 2764, the unit was stationed on Loburg,[3] assigned as part of LXVII Corps, Twentieth Army to the Periphery Military Region.[4] The Eighteenth was responsible for all worlds one jump from Loburg within the Bolan Thumb thumb, which had seen a steady rise in tensions since the Third Hidden War. To improve their response time, the division was also tied into the communications net of the Lyran Commonwealth-based Thirteenth Army.[2]
After surviving the Periphery uprising in 2765, the Eighteenth went on to fight in the Hegemony Campaign. During the assault on Alula Australis in December 2775, the unit overran several Amaris Empire Armed Forces outposts and captured the Mount Castarn Castle Brian in less than a weeks' fighting, capturing both the garrison commander and planetary governor.[5]
Having sustained heavy casualties on Alula Australis from WMD attacks,[5] the Eighteenth as a division was eventually disbanded, although some surviving elements joined the Draconis Combine and Lyran Commonwealth.[4] A regiment from the Eighteenth that joined the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces was used to reactivate the Eighteenth Lyran Guards in 2782,[6] while a battalion that joined the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery were mustered together with a battalion from the former 200th Jump Infantry Division to form the Twenty-seventh Dieron Regulars in 2783.[1]

Composition History[edit]
As an SLDF Infantry division, the Eighteenth would have been formed from two brigades of grunt infantry and a brigade of light BattleMech regiments.[7]
