Elijah Lossey was a Clan Nova Cat MechWarrior known for his ruthless efficiency and win-at-any-cost approach to conflict. His vision led to the creation of two of the most successful black-ops units in recent BattleTech history, the 212th Headhunter Binary and Stone's Trackers.

History[edit]

Ristar[edit]

Elijah Nova Cat quickly established himself as a ristar during the Combine-Dominion War of the 3060s. During his Trial of Bloodright for the Lossey Bloodname he killed his Elemental opponent with a trap rather than through direct combat. Though condemned as dishonorable by other warriors, the tactic became a hallmark of Elijah Lossey's "total war" approach to conflict. He was not deliberately bloodthirsty, overaggressive, or brutal, but would do whatever was necessary in the most efficient way to accomplish his goals, regardless of honor.

Jihad[edit]

In 3068 the Word of Blake unleashed its Jihad on the Inner Sphere. Using total war tactics, the Blakists freely used nuclear bombardment, dirty bombs, biological agents, and unrestrained assassination among other atrocities, behavior that harkened back to the horrors of the Amaris Civil War. Realizing this was the type of warfare most alien to the Clans, Lossey convinced Khan Santin West to create a secret black-ops unit that was willing to perform dezgra actions in order to achieve victory. Though never officially listed under the Nova Cat TO&E, Lossey deliberately named his Binary the 212th Headhunter.

Blending the uncompromising regimen of Clan warriors with the unorthodox capabilities of DEST commandos and featuring lightning-quick combined-arms tactics, the 212th took the battle directly to the Blakists. In October 3071, much of the Nova Cat touman left Irece Prefecture to join Devlin Stone's coalition forces and the 212th was the silent stiletto of Devlin's forces. When the Nova Cats were recalled to the Combine the next year, Stone ensured that the 212th remained with him for the entirety of the war.

Stone's Trackers[edit]

A number of Nova Cat warrior joined Stone's new Republic of the Sphere, including the entire 212th Headhunter. Now a Major in the RAF, Lossey did not object when the unit picked up the moniker "Stone's Trackers".
