Ella Grimm was the daughter of king Hendrik Grimm III of the Oberon Confederation; her mother's identity is unknown. As such, she was a sibling or at least half-sibling to Johann Grimm, Karl Grimm, and—if he actually ever existed—possibly also Hendrik Grimm IV.

When former Oberon Guards battalion commander Redjack Ryan fled (or was purged from) the Oberon Confederation in the wake of the Fianna Massacre in 3017, it was speculated that sleeping with king Hendrik III's daughter Ella may also have played a role.[2]
Ella Grimm survived the downfall of the Oberon Confederation in the Clan Invasion; she was in an undisclosed location within the Inner Sphere under the alias "Ella Grimes" when Clan Wolf overran the Confederation, seized Oberon VI, and executed her father.[1] Just prior to his final capture and subsequent execution, Hendrik Grimm III had the local ComStar Precentor send a recorded message to Ella via HPG. The message from her late father indeed reached her, but its content is unknown.[1]
