Evelyn Humphreys was a Free Worlds League noblewoman, who inherited the title of Duchess of Andurien from her aunt Dalma Humphreys.

Evelyn inherited her realm in the aftermath of the Jihad, making her the first ruler of a truly independent Duchy of Andurien. When her partner Darryl Samuelssen (who she never formally married[1]) perished in a training accident in 3088, Evelyn was forced to shoulder the burden of ruling and raising their son alone. Evelyn proved a capable diplomat, maintaining cordial relations with her neighbours and outright friendly relations with the Oriente Protectorate.[2] She also was able to address her nation's greatest weakness, its shortage of JumpShips, by brokering favorable agreements with various shipyards and private vessels.[1] The Duchess hoped her rule would prove to the Sphere and her son that Andurien was a legitimate state.[2]
Evelyn maintained a policy of annexing independent worlds in the former Free Worlds League when possible.[2] Seeking to further enlarge the territory that her son would inherit, and at the recommendation of her generals, Duchess Evelyn launched an joint invasion of the Capellan Confederation with Oriente on 5 February, 3104.[3] Joining the Victoria War proved a disaster for Andurien, and Duchess Evelyn never lived down the humiliation.[1]
