The Fifty-first Hussar Regiment was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.

History[edit]

In the early twenty-seventh century, the Fifty-first had a small unit of ten Hussar BattleMechs attached to it. This unit, nicknamed "The Fingers of Death," generally performed fast strikes behind enemy lines and helped show the merit of the 'Mech that would eventually become the standard light machine of the SLDF.[2] An example of this was the operation on Wotan in 2630, when they disrupted activities behind enemy lines for three weeks, destroying communication stations and ammunition depots.[3][4]

The Fifty-first won the Best Regiment category of the SLDF Martial Olympiad twice, in 2704 and 2728 during the Seventeenth and Twenty-third Olympiads held on Outreach.[5][6]

In 2764, the unit was assigned as a part of XXX Corps, Twelfth Army to District 2 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region.[1] The Fifty-first was used by XXX Corps to respond to small problems appropriate for a regiment's size, but also performed recon for the corps' divisions.[7]

The Fifty-first was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery in 2765, where it was destroyed during the Periphery Uprising.[1]
