Fusigon Heavy Weaponry is one of the Free Worlds League's preeminent producers of BattleMech weapons. Fusigon absorbed the much less well-regarded Flame Tech in 3065, resulting in occasional references to the combined entity as Fusigon-FlameTech.
Overview[edit]
During the Succession Wars era Fusigon Heavy Weaponry produced laser systems for the Free Worlds League Military industrial complex for many years from its plant on Campbelton while Flame Tech was best known for its production of the K-213 incendiary projector - commonly known as the flamer. However, Flame Tech also produced other weapons and equipment for both 'Mech and Aerospace assets from its facilities on Campbelton.[3]
In 3019, Flame Tech was awarded a new contract to supply flamers to the Free Worlds Guards, allowing for a new production facility to be opened and to expand its research operation on Fletcher. The rate of supply unexpectedly dropped off, which the company blamed on logistical and shipment problems; however, it was widely believed that executive fraud was involved.[3] During the Andurien Secession Thomas Marik found evidence proving Flame Tech executives were indeed embezzling funds and failing to deliver. Outraged, he nationalized the company, fired the board of directors, and split the company in two. The Flame Tech plant on Campbelton was sold to Fusigon, who merged it with their own production lines.[1]
Though Flame Tech's production was acceptable, they still had severe problems and sank into debt.[4] In 3065, Fusigon absorbed the struggling Flame Tech and combined research and development programs. Flame Tech now exists only as a brand name for goods exported out of the Free Worlds League. Products intended for League use are listed under the Fusigon name.[1]
As of 3068 with the demand for missiles, weapons systems (both replacements and upgrades) armor and support technology of all sorts during the Word of Blake Jihad being absolutely phenomenal, Fusigon was on back-order status for the first time since 3065.[5] This spike in demand did not extend to Flame Tech's signature weapon however and in 3079 Fusigon's leadership had begun talking about moving the plant's equipment to Campbelton and shutting down the Fletcher plant completely.[2]
