The Flying Tomkats were an aerospace fighter mercenary unit that clashed with Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey forces over the Lyran world of Finsterwalde in 3115. The battle would end up being named the "Finsterwalde Folly".
The Fifth Tamarind Regulars faced off against an identical fighter group from the Flying Tomkats. Both forces met during their transit to the planet. As the two groups closed, both launched their Picaroons with orders to disable or destroy the other's DropShips. Ignoring each other to attack their assigned target, both Picaroon flights were successful. By doing that, both units became stranded in deep space without transport. There were no survivors.[1]
