Prior to the Clan Invasion, the Freemen was a brigade of medium weight BattleMech regiments of the KungsArmé.[1]

History[edit]
A regiment of the Freemen was stationed in each of the Free Rasalhague Republic's three provinces prior to the Clan Invasion.[2] Two of the regiments were destroyed during the Clan Invasion but after the Truce of Tukayyid the FRR poured most of its efforts rebuilding into the Second Freemen.[3] None of the Freemen has ever retreated from combat.[4] Before the FedCom Civil War the only Freemen unit that was in service was the Second Freemen.[5]
After the Clan Ghost Bear/Free Rasalhague Republic integration, the KungsArmé reorganized itself into three Clan-style Galaxies. This reorganization resulted in the creation of three Freemen Clusters. All three Clusters were assigned to Taiga Galaxy.[6][7][8]
This process was only partially complete in 3076 when the survivors of Clan Ice Hellion started raiding Republic worlds. Kavalleri, Freemen, and Drakøn Clusters eventually drove the Hellions off of Holmsbu.[9]

Tactics[edit]
Though specific tactics vary by unit, in general, the Freemen try to strike a balance between speed and firepower in their 'Mech and armor forces.[4]
