Gamma Regiment is a subcommand of the Wolf's Dragoons mercenary organization.
History[edit]
Third Succession War[edit]
In 3025 the unit was stationed on Misery.[3]
Dark Age[edit]
After the Jihad and Dark Age, the rebuilt Gamma Regiment was the first to return to mercenary contract work.[4]
In 3150, the regiment was stationed on planet Parma. It had a reputation for poor discipline, which allowed the Kuritans to find or forge excuses to arrest about ten of them. The new Dragoons liaison officer, Tai-sa Reiko Akamine, refused to release them to Dragoons' custody to put pressure on the unit.[5]
The ongoing tensions and the arrival of a Clan Wolf representative trying to recruit the Dragoons for the battle on Terra, Star Captain Marotta Kerensky, caused a rift inside the Dragoons. This resulted in the Battle of Parma between the Dragoons and a faction of mutineers led by Nicholas Crews, Gamma's leader, with casualties and deaths on both sides. At the end of the battle, the survivors compromised and agreed to terminate the contract with the Combine and join Clan Wolf.[6]
Gamma, like the other Dragoons' line regiments, joined Clan Wolf's IlClan Trial. As part of Task Force Athena, Alpha attacked the Jade Falcon lines, wading through Delta Galaxy, breaking their lines, with Gamma following them, after splitting the Falcon in half, continued into Alpha Galaxy, pushing twelve kilometers. Colonel Brubaker was wounded, and Major Krull had to take command of all the Dragoons. When Alaric Ward, Khan of the Wolves, ordered the Dragoons to cease their attack and retreat, he had to comply, but the Dragoons sustained heavy losses during the maneuver.[7]
Second Disbandment[edit]
Along with most of the Dragoons, Gamma sustained heavy losses: the Black Cats battalion had a single survivor, and the new Dragoons leader, Colonel Henry Kincaid, was forced to deactivate it, though their surviving equipment was used to rebuild other units. The Black Cats' DropShips were used by the reborn Zeta Battalion.[8]

Tactics[edit]
The Gamma regiment was the Dragoons' urban specialists. This unit regularly receives intense training in close-quarter combat and riot control, and their performance in suitable assignments has resulted in an unblemished record of successfully completed contracts since the reorganization of 3052.[citation needed]
About the time of the Clan Invasion, Gamma was known as night-fighting and impaired sightline combat specialists.[23]

Insignia and Color Scheme[edit]
Gamma Regiment's regimental insignia was a Greek letter gamma. Wolf's Dragoon's sub-commands often painted their machines solid colors to announce their presence: a midnight blue is often associated with Gamma Regiment, but canary yellow aerospace fighters, orange, gold, or solid black were often seen.[30][31]
