Garrett O'Donnell was the commanding officer of the Garrett's Gùns lance of the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry during the Dark Age Era.[1]

History[edit]

Sang-wei O'Donnell's lance was assigned to infantry support missions as punishment for transgressions that included the crippling of their former commander's Yu Huang and the crushing of a Regulator after accidentally tripping on it. O'Donnell took command of the unit while seeking a means of advancing his career and trained his new MechWarriors extensively. After months of hard training and combat assignments, Garrett's Gùns became the best infantry support lance in the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry regiment, which often earned them detached assignments for special duties.[1]

One such duty occurred on New Hessen in 3144 after the Capellan Confederation conquered the planet. O'Donnell's lance was tasked with establishing a field outpost on the world and, alongside a company of infantry and a platoon of Arrow IV Assault Vehicles, with guarding a remote mining facility while its new Capellan overseers restarted production. When the miners revolted a week after the Second MAC arrived, killing their overseers and weaponizing two lances of Mining and AgroMechs, O'Donnell's four Gùns lead the Confederation's counterattack. The two lances of hostile 'Mechs were eliminated through the combined fire of O'Donnell's MechWarriors and their AAV support, with the surviving miners fleeing after two-thirds of them were disintegrated by plasma fire. Finally, O'Donnell's men flushed out the remaining mutineers by using their machines' Bloodhound Active Probes to locate their hiding spots.[2][3]
