Gerd Stromberg was the commanding officer of the Second FedCom RCT during the War of 3039.[1]

In late August 3039, Hauptmann-General Stromberg and the Second FedCom RCT were dispatched to raid the Capellan Confederation world of Ares in retaliation for several McCarron's Armored Cavalry raids. Stromberg's troops quickly overwhelmed the defending Fifteenth Dracon's First Battalion and several corporate security detachments before taking the planet's three major industrial facilities with varying degrees of difficulty. The arrival of the rest of the Fifteenth Dracon eighteen days later failed to oust Stromberg's raiders but the arrival of Kingston's Legionnaires two-and-a-half weeks afterwards gave him second thoughts. When Stromberg withdrew on 12 September, his RCT had captured thousands of tons of military vehicles and miscellaneous supplies, commandeered four military-grade DropShips, and left the planet's Earthwerks Ltd., Bergan Industries, and Quickscell plants inoperable.[1]
