Lieutenant Giles "The Bangers" Barners was a member of the Brion's Legion mercenary unit prior to and during the Fourth Succession War.[1][2][3]

Barners was the commander of Barners Lance, Wernke's Battalion in Brion's Legion, a lance comprising only black painted Awesome BattleMechs, during the Legion's employment by the Draconis Combine.
He was a hulk of a man, who piloted an Awesome assault 'Mech, because he claimed he simply could not fit in a smaller machine. He was also a 'Mech-Ace, with fifty-six confirmed 'Mech kills as of 3025, which later increased to seventy-one confirmed 'Mech kills by 3039. This make Barners the premier Awesome ace in the Draconis Combine at the time.
During the Fourth Succession War, Barners Lance fought a rear-guard action on David, holding off the Twelfth Deneb Light Cavalry for long enough for the rest of the Legion to reach the safety of the local ComStar station.[2][1][3]
BattleMech[edit]
Barners was known to pilot a black painted Awesome BattleMech, nicknamed the "Kwik Killer".[2][1][3]
