Goran Yuu was the commanding officer of the First Crucis Lancers during the War of 3039.[1]

General Yuu and the First Crucis Lancers were tasked with capturing the Draconis Combine system of Capra in May 3039, reinforced by the First Albion Training Cadre and anticipating limited resistance. While the local garrison commander Tai-sa Angus Yatabi had requested reinforcements after hearing of the joint Federated Suns/Lyran Commonwealth pressuring the Combine's border, the chaos caused by the wider invasion left Capra with only a few battalions of infantry to stand in its defense. Upon landing on 18 May, Yuu's BattleMechs surrounded the capital city of New Cassandra while his infantrymen destroyed any pockets of resistance. By 27 May, all of Capra's settlements had been pacified and all resisters had been eliminated or imprisoned, allowing the First Lancers and First Training Cadre to prepare for further assaults against Combine worlds.[1]
By 13 July, Yuu's forces had finished preparations for their follow-up attack on Beta Mensae V and made to leave the Capra system, stationing two BattleMech battalions and two combined-arms units as garrison troops under the command of Major General Grissom Miller. When a Combine counter-invasion fleet arrived at both of Capra's jump points, Yuu made the decision to continue departing the system rather than turn around to reinforce Capra's garrison. Instead, Yuu tasked the Second Crucis Lancers Aerospace Wing and a volunteer infantry force with capturing the Third Proserpina Hussars' JumpShips at the system's nadir jump point. These forces would remain at the nadir point until Miller's garrison received withdrawal orders on 15 October, taking the three captured vessels back to the Federated Suns as spoils of war.[2]
While Yuu would receive recall orders en route to Beta Mensae V, a technical glitch made the documents unreadable and did not prevent the First Lancers and First Cadre's arrival in the Beta Mensae system. Yuu clearly received the orders when they were re-sent after the task force's arrival above Beta Mensae, causing the local garrison a month's worth of anxiety before the FedSuns force left to raid Kaznejov on its way home.[3] The Kaznejov operation involved two weeks of hit-and-run attacks against the defending Seventeenth Galedon Regulars and Kaznejov's military infrastructure before Yuu's forces departed once more for the Federated Suns. The biggest victory of this raid was the destruction of the Kaznejov Prefecture headquarters and the death of prefecture commander Tai-sho Fatima Kori, which indirectly enabled Major General Miller's soldiers to survive on Capra long enough to escape.[4]
