Description[edit]
The Goth is an early Clan medium OmniFighter developed from the Gotha by Clan Cloud Cobra. In Clan space, the Goth was used extensively by the Cloud Cobras for anti-DropShip operations. The design was also very popular and served with nearly every Clan.[1]
The design was very effective and remained in service until the late 2900's when a new generation of higher-speed OmniFighters rendered it obsolete. After Stewart became part of the Wolf Empire, Allied Technologies' Gotha production lines were converted to produce the Goth OmniFighter in 3146 allowing Clan Wolf to bolster their weakened aerospace forces.[1] [2]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Goth is a solid fighter with reasonably high speed for its weight class, being able to push its frame to a maximum of four Gs thrust with its 180-rated fusion engine. The hull is protected by 14.5 tons of standard armor, giving it modest armor for a medium-weight fighter. The primary weakness of the design is heat management, as the Goth uses single heat sinks which can quickly be overwhelmed by the weapons, despite there being 15 heat sinks permanently mounted on the frame. Because of this nearly every configuration of the Goth adds more to combat its high heat generation.
The bulk of the Prime Goth's configuration firepower comes from a pair of wing-mounted Artemis IV-guided LRM-15 launchers, with small pulse lasers mounted coaxially. Supplementing the wing-mounted firepower is a large pulse laser and pair of ER medium lasers in the nose. Another pair of ER medium lasers are found mounted to the rear, guarding the fighter's vulnerable tail. Finally, four more heat sinks are pod-mounted on the frame.[5][4]
Alternate Configurations[edit]
- Alternate Configuration A
- The A configuration is a close-range fighter with two nose-mounted large pulse lasers, and an ER medium laser and pair of SRM-6 launchers added to each of the fighter's wings. It also carries six additional pod-mounted single heat sinks for a total of 21. BV (2.0) = 1,898[4][6]
- Alternate Configuration B
- Primarily an energy-focused configuration, the B's firepower is dramatically hotter-running because of its wing-mounted pairing of ER large lasers and large pulse lasers. Complementing the Goth's sensors is an active probe fitted to its nose. Like the A configuration, this version carries 21 single heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,955[4]
- Alternate Configuration C
- A Wolf Empire configuration which carries a pair of RAC/5s in the nose, equipped with seven tons of ammunition. BV (2.0) = 2,062[4]
- Alternate Configuration D
- Another Wolf Empire configuration, each wing carries an LRM-15 enhanced with Artemis V FCS, fed from a three-ton bay. Additional firepower comes from a nose-mounted ER PPC with a PPC capacitor. Though it adds five more single heat sinks, two coolant pods are available to handle heat spikes. BV (2.0) = 2,126[4]
