History[edit]
Grayson and his twin brother Justin enlisted in the Com Guards as part of their family's tradition in 3044 and were assigned to matched Star League Era BattleMechs upon graduating from their MechWarrior training.[2] During the Battle of Tukayyid, the Hares were assigned to Seventy-eighth Division commander Felicity Lucha's headquarters security detachment and were the sole survivors after a Clan Steel Viper headhunter assault decimated the unit. In order to compensate for the intense heat generated by the Devil's Bath geysers, the brothers fought with extreme coordination in order to ensure one was always firing while the other was cooling down their machine. By the time reinforcements arrived, Grayson had suffered significant wounds but the two warriors had eliminated a substantial number of Elementals, OmniMechs, and even a low-flying OmniFighter.[2]
When the Seventy-eighth Division was disbanded after Tukayyid, Grayson and Justin were separated and assigned to different units. Grayson's frustration with ComStar's willingness to let the Invading Clans retain their occupied territories—combined with the casualties suffered by the Com Guards to stop them on Tukayyid—lead him to defect to the Word of Blake. Over time, he rose through the ranks to become a member of the Manei Domini and a Demi-Precentor in the Fiftieth Shadow Division, leaving him in a position to fight against his brother when the Com Guards' 116th Division participated in the 3072 liberation of Donegal. Justin and Grayson fought each other with the same coordination that earned them victory on Tukayyid, leading both warriors' 'Mechs to collapse at the same time. While witnesses later reported seeing one of the brothers weeping over the other's body, it was never learned if it was Grayson or Justin who had died in their duel.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
Demi-Precentor Grayson Hare piloted a Rifleman BattleMech during the Battle of Tukayyid. During the Jihad, he piloted a Toyama.[1]
