Gundar's Grenadiers were a mercenary unit under Lyran Commonwealth contract and assigned to the defense of Solaris VII when elements of the Fourth Marik Militia (a reinforced battalion) landed on planet during 2998 intending to cripple Solaris' Mech-repair facilities on Solaris City's international zone. Gundar's Grenadiers were able to catch the Marik Militia only after heavily damaging the repair facility, when they had withdraw into the area known as Roland Fields. The ensuing battle lasted for five days, where the Grenadiers, heavily outnumbered did use several secret repair bases for supplies and rearming.
The Grenadiers crippled the Marik forces with intelligent use of hit-and-run attacks whittling the Marik unit down to under a dozen battered BattleMechs.[1]
