The Harloc system was the location of at least one habitable world, Harloc V, and as of 3145 was located in the Sian Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Harloc system is located near the Bharat and Yangtze systems[4] and consists of a class F0V primary orbited by at least five worlds.[1]

System History[edit]

The Harloc system was colonized during the First Exodus from Terra[5] and was a member of the Sian Commonwealth prior to the founding of the Capellan Confederation.[6]

Harloc V - more commonly known simply as Harloc - is the fifth planet in the system.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

The single continent on Harloc is home to a number of deadly predatory species. As a consequence, the human colonists developed a very martial society, a tradition that continued into the Dark Age and which made Harloc an obvious location for establishing a Duchy Regional Training Center.[1] The Harloc RTC is credited with being responsible for producing the prestigious Harloc Raiders regiment, an association that the RTC took a great deal of pride in; high-achieving cadets at the RTC would often attempt to use their grades and connections to gain an assignment to the Raiders, even after the regiment was no longer a native command.[35]

During the Jihad, when Duke George Hasek of the Capellan March launched his offensive against the Capellan Confederation under the name Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE, Harloc was one of the worlds targeted as the Federated Suns forces encircled the worlds of the former St. Ives Compact. Harloc was captured by the 2nd of July 3068.[28]

Harloc has a single continent named Dupree, covering just over a third of the surface of the planet.[1]
