Harvest is mentioned as "Auric II (Harvest)" in the apocryphal BattleTechnology, Issue #0102, page 6. This seems to suggest that Harvest is the name of the second planet in what is otherwise known as the Auric system.

Political Affiliation[edit]

Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

During the final years of the Star League, Harvest was the host of a Star League Defense Force garrison.[51]

Second Succession War[edit]

The Draconis Combine attacked Harvest in 2841. The defending Lyran troops, Thirty-first York Regulars, held positions away from the cities and important agricultural industries. These positions protected the planet's infrastructure, but left the defenders scattered. The Nineteenth Rasalhague Regulars' attack proved so successful, that the unit's commander called for reinforcements to turn the raid into planetary conquest. With the arrival of the Fifth Arkab Legion and the Third Proserpina Hussars, Harvest fell to the Combine.[52]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Harvest's role as a major agricultural world for the Rasalhague Military District made it a key early target for the Lyran Commonwealth during the Fourth Succession War, and it was one of the first worlds attacked in the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG. The Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces task force consisted of three BattleMech-led RCTs - the Fourth Donegal Guards and the First and Third Lyran Regulars supported by forty assorted regiments of infantry and armor.[22]

The garrison on Harvest when the LCAF invasion force arrived in August 3028 consisted of twenty assorted regiments of armor and infantry and two mercenary 'Mech regiments, the Fifth Amphigean Light Assault Group and Helmut's Hermits. The Lyran forces dropped on the Ohio continent en masse and made immediate and effective use of the new lightning companies created as a result of the cross-training and cooperation between the LCAF and the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in the years before the invasion. In two key battles - one the Battle of Dangalobee Fields Where the First Lyran Regulars fought the Fifth Amphigean Light Assault Group, and the other the Battle for Pusou Hill where the Fourth Donegal Guards RCT and elements of both Lyran Regulars RCTs fought against the Hermits - the lightning companies exploited weaknesses in the enemy line to break through and wreak havoc in the DCMS rear areas, catching their opponents by complete surprise.[22]

Operation REVIVAL[edit]

Harvest was conquered by Clan Wolf during Operation Revival as part of their Third Wave of attacks in July 3050. Opposing the 341st Assault Cluster, which committed its Supernova Second, Trinary Assault and Rogue Fighter Star, were the First and Second Royal Harvest Divisions. The defenders were under the command of Överste Kinson, a veteran of the famed Tyr Regiment during the Fourth Succession War. Kinson decided it was best flee into the Skonnsen mountain range with his forces, including a regiment of ancient 'Mechs, and conduct guerrilla operations against the Clan invaders. Their tactics worked, with major battles taking place at Josuph Corner, Rookhaven, Dangalobee and Aaron Ranch, until they were betrayed from within and Clan Wolf fell upon their hiding place. To decide the fate of their forces Överste Kinson challenged Star Captain Cary Vickers to an honor duel, and while he lost the skill and honor he displayed in combat inspired the Star Captain to ask him to head the planet's occupation government.[53]

In the game MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries, Harvest was the location of an aerospace fighter base under threat from Clan Wolf in 3051. Codenamed Birds Nest, the contract calls for the player to defend the base from Clan probing attacks until its complement of fighters could escape the planet, presumably to rendezvous with an FRR vessel in orbit.

As of 3072, a BattleMech Trinary commanded by Quinn Kerensky and named "Quinn's Ravagers" from the First Falcon Hussars raided prior to July the planet.[54]

Harvest was conquered again during the Jihad, when Clan Hell's Horses launched an invasion of Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere in early 3071, acquiring holdings for their own relocation to Spheroid space. Harvest was seized by the Hell's Horses between the 7th and 28th of June 3071.[37]

Dark Age[edit]

In 3118 Clan Wolf launched a probing attack on Harvest, only to be repelled by the Twenty-First Mechanized Assault Cluster; however, whilst the Twenty-First successfully rebuffed the Wolf attack, they used the new Hippogriff ProtoMechs they had obtained from Clan Snow Raven poorly, and the resulting poor performance of the Hippogriff led to it being redeployed to solahma units after the battle.[45]

Military Deployment[edit]

  • Thirty-second Lyran Guards[56]

  • Twenty-first Mechanized Assault Cluster[45]

The continent of Ohio was the location of most of Harvest's major cities and industries by the time of the Fourth Succession War.[22]
