Hikaru Roneskovich was a bureaucrat on Towne, assassinated by Jonathan Yurei Kamimori in 3133.

History[edit]

Roneskovich was a long-time Republic of the Sphere public servant. Entering the service in 3103, he rapidly rose to become the head of Towne's branch of the Republican Bureau of Citizens' Affairs, a post he held for well over two decades. In that position, he became known for his support for Draconis Combine descendants across the planet. He moved to the town of Kordava in 3128.[1]

Around 3131, Roneskovich's career was interrupted by criminal charges alleging his involvement in a yakuza smuggling operation in Kordava's "Little Luthien" district. The charges were dropped after a further investigation, launched by Prefect Katana Tormark, cleared his name, allowing him to return to his post in October 3132.[1]

Roneskovich did not keep his post for long. Jonathan Yurei Kamimori was hired to kill him.[2] On 14 March 3133, Roneskovich's mutilated body was found in his Kordava home.[1]

The investigation of Roneskovich's murder was complicated by a number of surrounding killings. For fun and for camouflage, Jonathan, with the help of local assistant Shu Imashinigi, murdered a series of women in the "Little Luthien" neighborhood.[3] A message from the "Little Luthien" Killer, or the Kappa as Jonathan preferred to be known, left a message for police denying any involvement in Roneskovich's murder. Towne law enforcement was split; Kordava police believed there was a connection, and the Towne Bureau of Investigations cast doubts.[4] One assistant medical examiner on the case, Amanda Slade, publicly argued that Roneskovich was the main target and all others were camouflage; the Legate's frustration with her press attention led to her demotion and removal from the case.[5]

When a monument to the victims of the "Little Luthien" killer was introduced on 3 February 3134, Roneskovich's name was left off.[6]

Notes[edit]

  • Katana's investigation of a smuggling ring Roneskovich was allegedly involved in coincides with, from the same source (Dark Age: 3132-3134 INN), her investigation of a black market BattleMech smuggling ring, concluding at roughly the same time.[7] The source does not make an explicit connection.
