Hishu Stonara was the commanding officer of the Seventh Ghost Regiment during the War of 3039 before becoming a prominent officer in the Benjamin Military District.[1][2]

Tai-sa Stonara spent his early life as a street urchin before being recruited into the Draconis Combine's new Ghost Regiments. On 19 July 3039, Stonara lead the Seventh and Eighth Ghost Regiments in liberating the world of Sadalbari from the occupying forces of the Third FedCom RCT and Fifth Davion Guards. Stonara's Ghosts quickly pushed the Third FedCom out of their base in Solus City before the prepared defenses of the Origian Military Reservation caused the fighting to bog down. On 26 July, Tai-sa Victor Coale of the Second Shin Legion—bloodied but unbroken during Sadalbari's initial occupation—launched a sub-orbital strike against Origian that succeeded in removing the Federated Suns forces. Stonara continued to push hard against the retreating Third FedCom, first destroying the skilled quick reaction force of Colonel Jack Roberts and then eliminating the battered Third FedCom as a viable fighting force.[2]
When the Fifth Davion Guards took to the field to buy the Third FedCom time to reconstruct itself, Stonara's advanced BattleMechs and LosTech equipment took such a heavy toll that the Guards were forced to retreat to the Xantal Military Reservation on 30 August. While the FedSuns troops tried to hold out for reinforcements, they ultimately left the world on 14 October after receiving withdrawal orders.[1] Despite clashing repeatedly during the fight for the planet, and despite coming from opposing backgrounds, Stonara and Coale became close friends. While the two officers rarely agreed on specific details and regularly held contrasting views, they quickly developed the ability to create winning operational plans in the midst of their arguments. After the conclusion of the War of 3039, Coale and Stonara temporarily went their separate ways.[1]
In 3042, Coale was promoted to Deputy Commander of the Kajikazawa Prefecture and he recruited Stonara to serve as his Assistant Deputy for Plans and Operations. In 3048, Coale became the commanding officer of the Prefecture and once again recruited Stonara to serve as his deputy commander.[3][4] When Coale became the Benjamin Military District Strategy and Operations Director—one of four strategy counselors for the Gunji-no-Kanrei and the Coordinator of the Draconis Combine—Stonara became commander of the Kajikazawa Prefecture, in addition to his continued role as Coale's closest friend and advisor.[1][5]
