Honorable Enemies: Generals of the Inner Sphere

Honorable Enemies: Generals of the Inner Sphere was a written work, authored by Morikami Renchell and published by Pesht National Press, in 2989.[1]

Overview[edit]

This work provided a history of various Inner Sphere commanders, of enemies of the Draconis Combine, who the author considered honorable or worthy. These included Nikolai Rostov, a notable figure within the Federated Suns, who participated in the twenty-sixth century Davion Civil War. The work noted that Rostov's favorite historical general was the pre-space flight Terran Mikhail Kutuzov, who was notable for his victory for Russia over Napoleon, and that Rostov used bait and switch tactics in imitation of Kutuzov.

As an example of this, the work gives the Battle of Talcott during the Davion Civil War, where Rostov hide his forces on Talcott in an attempt to lure units loyal to David Varnay into a trap. This tactic was ultimately successful, with Rostov able to catch Varnay's forces unexpectedly in a lightening raid, after they had been exhausted from searching the world for Rostov's hidden troops.[1]
