The Hopewell was the first freighter to be built by New Avalon following the Demarcation Declaration.[1]
History[edit]
Constructed by a Davion-owned manufacturing plant,[2] the Hopewell was formally commissioned as the NAS Hopewell by Prime Minister Martin DuVall in 2293; New Avalon had no shipbuilding and only a few repair facilities at the time of the Grain Rebellion, but Martin Duvall and his predecessor, Joseph Cartwright had worked to expand investment in shipbuilding.[1] The Hopewell was a trade freighter, and one of four such ships to be built by the same Davion-owned plant.[2]
