House Steiner-Davion are a cadet line of both House Davion and House Steiner rooted in the brief merging of the houses and their respective realms to create the Federated Commonwealth. The family crest was a crouched fox with steiner blue eyes set upon a blood red shield, very similar to the traditional Davion crest.[1]

House Steiner-Davion originally ruled the combined Federated Commonwealth. Following the end of the FedCom Civil War, the 3067 Act of Succession barred most of the family from the title of First Prince, leaving only Yvonne's line eligible to hold the Principality.[2] In 3073, House Borge-Steiner became the new ruling branch of the Steiner family when Peter willed the Archonship to Adam Steiner rather than his young son Hanse.[3] Trillian's ascent to the Archonship after the death of Melissa Steiner in 3143 meant a brief return to Steiner-Davions ruling both states. But it was not to last, as the following year, Caleb Davion was killed in the Palmyra Debacle, ending Steiner-Davion rule in the Federated Suns.[4]
