Household Troop Agreement of 2883

The Household Troop Agreement of 2883 was an agreement seconding the private armies of Lyran nobles to the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces.[1] [2]

Overview[edit]

In the wake of civil war, the Lyran government put explicit restrictions upon the private militias that its nobility could raise to prevent a repeat,[1] including limiting the overall unit weight which resulted in efforts to sidestep the restrictions such as noble owned "mercenary units" like the Stealthy Tigers.[3]

As the Succession Wars dragged on without end, the Lyran government instituted the Household Troop Agreement in 2883 further modifying these restrictions. While legally speaking fully separate from the Lyran military, the LCAF High Command created the House Troops Liaison as part of the 2883 agreement to exert influence over the private militias and militarized security forces maintained by both the Lyran nobility and corporations, keeping them under a tight rein while giving them the illusion of independence.[1] [2]

The agreement also had an impact on Lyran line units, including the requirement that at least half the 17th Skye Rangers come from the planet of Summer.[4]
