Description[edit]

The II Triarii Protectors (also known as the Second Triarii Protectors) was a combined-arms regimental combat formation in service to the Republic of the Sphere.

History[edit]

Formation[edit]

This unit is notable because many of its members came from the lower castes of Clan Nova Cat, many of them from Shitara.[2]

Early Dark Age Era[edit]

By 3117, the unit had recruited additional Nova Cat Clanspeople from newly settled enclaves after the Second Combine-Dominion War. The RAF, in order to better integrate them, recruited members of all castes into the ranks of the 2nd Triarii. On Shitara, Nova Cat Technician Pádraig from the Wayne Station Enclave gifted four prototype Clan-tech VTOLs to the regiment and Republic as a thank you for allowing his people to settle in the Republic. The Second Triarii conducted test trials of the Strix.[3]

The 2nd Triarii was reassigned in later years to Ashio, another world within Prefecture II.[4]

Late Dark Age Era and Destruction[edit]

During the Draconis Combine invasion of the Republic, the Second Triarii Protectors defended Biham against the Second Sword of Light in 3135. They used multiple fast strikes by hovercraft to delay the Sword of Light unit long enough for artillery fire to pound it.[5]

Survivors of the Second answered the call to fall back to Terra prior to the Wall being raised. However, the unit took had taken so much damage it was decommissioned and its members rolled into the Eleventh Hastati Sentinels. Survivors of the Second held an intense hatred for the Draconis Combine that would carry on with newly formed Eleventh.[6]
