Planetary History[edit]
During the First Succession War, Ilion was taken by Lyran Commonwealth forces. During the fighting, tactical nuclear devices were deployed there in 2799.[20] The damage to the world's life support systems was so severe that it would eventually be evacuated,[21] though evidently only after the Free Worlds League managed to recapture it by 2821.[22]
The Twelfth Atrean Dragoons, following their surrender to loyalist troops on Calloway VI in the Marik Civil War in November 3014, withdrew to Ilion V with other disenchanted League troops[1] where it is noted they fought a final battle (against each other or an unspecified third party) before forming the famed Hansen's Roughriders mercenary unit.[23] This would imply the Ilion system to feature at least five planets, and the fifth being the primary habitable world; however, by 3014 Ilion was already long abandoned and not listed on contemporary star maps.
IlClan Era[edit]
The new settlers of Ilion didn't arrive until a century and half later, and were totally unexpected ones: Wolf's Dragoons, after being decimated in the Battle of Terra, were led there by their new leader, Colonel Henry Kincaid. Ilion had been chosen by Jaime Wolf when the Dragoons were working for Janos Marik, as a rally point if Janos betrayed them.[24] Using the recharge station of Nockatunga as transshipment point, the Dragoons settled on Ilion, building a settlement of prefabricated buildings and 'Mech bays, which in a few months became a little city, a place to rest, repair and train their new units. They named the place Fort Joshua, probably in honor of Joshua Wolf.[25]

Geography[edit]
Ilion was a habitable planet, with a stable biosphere, but the system's blue-white star was too bright, with more than average ultraviolet light striking the planet, it was a little too hot for humans, so it wasn't attractive enough to be recolonized. It had a very wet atmosphere.[24]
