The Illiushin system was home to at least one habitable world, Illiushin IV, and as of 3145 was located in the Taurian Concordat.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Illiushin system is located near the Camadeierre and Ina systems[4][5] and consists of a class M6V primary orbited by at least four planets.[1] Prior to the Succession Wars the Illiushin system was home to numerous black water naval facilities operated by the Taurian Defense Force and then the Star League Defense Force.[6]

System History[edit]

The Illiushin system was either colonized or absorbed by the Taurian Concordat at some point during or prior to the Age of War.[4][7][8]

Illiushin IV - more commonly known simply as Illiushin - is the fourth planet in the system and has a single moon named Eye. Illiushin was an industrialized world with at least one major defense manufacturer located on the planet.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Early History[edit]

The colonists who settled on Illliushin had a fondness for dairy products, and used the extensive grasslands found on the planet to found what would become a massive cheese-making industry; over the centuries nearly every type of cheese known to mankind would be produced on Illiushin. The popularity of Illiushin's cheeses was such that when a pirate band raided the world and disrupted exports of cheese for a lengthy period, other pirate bands hunted down the raiders and punished them for disrupting the flow of cheese, leading to the agricultural regions of Illiushin and the associated infrastructure becoming regions that bandits left alone.[1]

Reunification War[edit]

Illiushin was one of the few Taurian worlds to escape a full planetary assault by the SLDF during the many years over which the Star League invasion of the Concordat occurred. Illiushin didn't escape damage, however;[9] in 2589 the Davion Brigade of Guards[10] led by Major General Elias Pitcairn sacked the planet, damaging the garrison, who were already war-weary from previous actions.[9]

Star League Era[edit]

During the Star League era, as the Taurians had scuttled many of their naval facilities in the last days of the Reunification War, the ships of the Star League Defense Force would use the many captured naval facilities in the Illiushin system for refit and repair.[6] Meanwhile, on the ground, the SLDF maintained a garrison to protect vital assets and deter civilian unrest.[11]

Illiushin is known for the extensive grasslands found on the planet, and has two major landmasses named Harbor and Flight.[1]

  • The two major landmasses on Illiushin given in Objectives: Periphery are Harbor and Flight, but the VMI plant is noted as being located on Pasteur. It is unclear if this refers to a third continent - suggesting that one was omitted in error - or if the names of the given continents are correct, or if Pasteur is a minor landmass such as an island.[1]
