In the Deep is a short story by Geoff Swift that was published as introductory fiction for Historical Turning Points: Galtor.
Plot Summary[edit]
Set on Galtor in May 3025 during The Galtor Campaign, the story depicts the actions of the Neptune-class submarine FSS Ward and her four sister ships in defending a secret underwater planetary command post of the Federated Suns in the waters of Derry Bay against Draconis Combine forces. While the FSS Ward is able to destroy an enemy Jenner with concentrated torpedo fire, it subsequently missed an enemy submarine that is able to break through the defense line undetected.
