Description[edit]

The Inferno heavy OmniMech was introduced by StarCorps Industries of Crofton after New Avalon fell to the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery in the Dark Age. With twenty-nine tons of pod space available and protected by thirteen and a half tons of armor, the Inferno became a popular unit in the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

By building on an Endo-Steel chassis with a Compact Gyro engineers were able to free up a lot of space in the traditionally crowded center torso. This freed room for heavy weapons in the most heavily protected part of the 'Mech. In every configuration the main weapons are mounted in the center torso, with additional weaponry in the side torsos (often in over the shoulder mounts), leaving the arms free for physical attacks.[2]

The primary configuration uses a Heavy PPC for the main firepower, while two Medium Re-Engineered Lasers are supplemented by a pair of MML-5s.[2] Two tons of MML ammunition are located in a CASE II protected bay, and three additional double heat sinks bring the total to fifteen.[3]

Alternate Configurations[edit]

  • Alternate Configuration A
The center torso carries an ER PPC supplemented by a Gauss rifle with two tons of ammunition in the left torso. To protect against capacitor explosions, CASE II is mounted in the left torso as well. Each side torso carries a Medium X-Pulse Laser. BV (2.0) = 1,846[3]
  • Alternate Configuration B
A fire support configuration, the center torso carries an ER PPC and ER Small Laser. Each side torso carries an LRM-15 with two tons of ammo in a CASE II protected bay. The final weapon is another ER Small Laser mounted in the right torso. An extra double heat sink is mounted in the right torso as well. BV (2.0) = 1,658[3]
  • Alternate Configuration C
Another fire support configuration, an ER Medium Laser is in each torso. Like the primary configuration, an MML-5 is carried in the side torsos. For the main firepower, a Thunderbolt 15 missile launcher is mounted in the center torso. The right torso carries two tons of Thunderbolt ammo and two tons of MML ammunition in a CASE II protected bay. Similarly, CASE II protects a ton of MML ammunition and two more tons of Thunderbolt ammo in the left torso. BV (2.0) = 1,698[3]
  • Alternate Configuration R
This configuration uses Clan-spec weapons. The center torso mounts an ER PPC and a pair of ER Large Lasers for the 'Mech's main firepower. These weapons are tied into a Clan-spec Targeting Computer. These weapons are supplemented by two Clan-grade SRM-6 launchers, one in each side torso. These split a single ton of ammunition in a CASE II protected ammunition bay in the left torso. Seven more double heat sinks are fitted to deal with the massive heat load from the energy weapons. BV (2.0) = 2,360[3]
