Overview[edit]
The company started as Discount Equipment Warehouse. Built on a Military Materiel Redemption Program loan, it sold affordable industrial equipment. Financial troubles led to bankruptcy, which was followed by its acquisition by Bannson Universal Unlimited in 3128. Under Bannson it was rebranded Jake's Discount Equipment Warehouse, and it began selling military and militarized equipment, particularly militarized industrial equipment. It developed a reputation for dubious and deceptive advertising, suffering several lawsuits. It also suffered from the open violent conflict between owners Bannson Universal Limited and salvagers Belyakov-Ourobouros,[1] as well as from widespread thefts from and attacks on its facilities.[3]
Jake's Discount Equipment Warehouse had multiple locations throughout Prefecture III and Prefecture IV. It also offered equipment that wasn't available anywhere else, which led some to think it was merely a front company for BUU.[3] Many locations were located nearby mercenary hiring halls to tap into that market.[4]
JDEW's best known combat vehicle was a refit of the M1 Marksman that featured an engine swap which allowed the installation of larger MRM launchers.[2]
