Lieutenant James McLean was a member of the Medium (later Heavy) Lance (McLean's Lance - The Giants), Woomack's Company, Charlie Battalion, Gamma Regiment of Wolf's Dragoons as of 3028.[1]

In 3027 prior to the Dragoons' campaign on Udibi to capture supplies from the Federated Suns, McLean was considered to be a tall man, despite being no taller than any other MechWarrior in his lance, measuring 6 foot 7 inches. The height of his lancemates was the source of their unit nickname - The Giants.[2]
He participated in the fighting on Udibi against McKinnon's Company when his lance was classified as a Medium Lance, and after the Battle of Misery when his lance became the Heavy Lance of Gamma Regiment's Third Provisional Company, he went on to fight in the Fifth Battle of Harrow's Sun and the Battle of Crossing. On Harrow's Sun his 'Mech was damaged beyond repair, and on Crossing he was killed.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
McLean was known to initially pilot an ACR-R [sic] Archer BattleMech, including during the 3027 raid on Udibi. He later piloted a Catapult until it was damaged beyond repair on Harrow's Sun, and a Victor until his death on Crossing.[1][2]
