James Pryde was a Bloodnamed MechWarrior in Clan Jade Falcon's Fifth Battle Cluster during the Dark Age Era.[1]

Star Captain James was considered to be an intelligent and fierce traditionalist who stood strongly within Clan Jade Falcon's Jesses camp. During the Falcons' desant against the Republic of the Sphere in 3134, James was an officer surrounded by the Slips of the Fifth Battle Cluster. Following the conquest of Ryde, James ignored Galaxy Commander Malvina Hazen's orders to execute civilians and was demoted to the rank of MechWarrior for his insubordination. Only James' successful record in combat prevented his on-the-spot execution and he gradually fought his way back to the rank of Star Captain, despite the number of Slips who wanted him dead.[2]
After Hazen's ascension to Khan, the assignment of Galaxy Commander Stephanie Chistu to leadership of Delta Galaxy restored the Jesses' control over the Fifth Battle Cluster, providing James with a future chance to Trial for command of the unit.[2] During the Battle of Coventry in 3148, James used his BattleMech to secure the Fifth Battle's landing zone before pummeling every Lyran Commonwealth hostile in range with LRM salvoes. He continued to destroy or force back any Lyran bold enough to contest the Fifth's landing until his ammunition ran out, repeatedly withdrawing to rearm himself until no one remained to attack his Trinary.[1]
BattleMech[edit]
Star Captain James Pryde piloted a Bane 3 BattleMech during the Battle of Coventry, which he was criticized for using in an offensive capacity by his detractors.[1][2]
