Plot Summary

Set on Jonathan during the Jihad era in June 3068, the story follows Franco Wei, a minor scion of House Liao, who serves under the alias San-ben-bing Jiang Shu in the Fourth Jonathan Militia's infantry. Though inexperienced, he takes his place on the front line against an unexpected invasion by the Federated Suns. Equipped with a Fa Shih battle armor and a plasma rifle, Franco joins his fellow soldiers in a desperate defensive action. As enemy 'Mechs, tanks, and infantry advance, Franco engages from his dug-in position, managing to disable a tank and some APCs. Through his courage and determination, Franco proves himself janshi—a warrior of the Capellan Confederation.
