John MacAllister was a mercenary officer with the Eridani Light Horse.[3]
History[edit]
As of ca. 3039, Captain MacAllister commanded the 41st Support Company (The Ass Extractors), 82nd Heavy Cavalry Battalion, 71st Light Horse Regiment.[3][1][4][5] "Dashing John," as he was known, embodied ancient Earth's heavy cavalry officers, having studied Napoleon, and became renown for blaring Terran-French martial music from his Thunderbolt's external speakers during battle. He also was known for his skill in supporting rear-guard actions, amassing 26 kills by 3025. He was idolized by his men, who implemented pieces of Napoleonic uniforms as a sort of trademark.[3][4][5]
On Fellanin II during the War of 3039, MacAllister led his company in a desperate rearguard action against the Second Arkab Legion and what remained of the Fourth Proserpina Hussars to secure the retreat of the Eighty-second Heavy Cavalry Battalion. The Ass Extractors set ambushes to lure the Kuritans into artillery kill zones, and destroyed over two companies of Kuritan 'Mechs. John was captured after his 'Mech was shot out from under him, and was repatriated in early 3040.[4][5]
BattleMech[edit]
MacAllister was known to pilot a TDR-5SE Thunderbolt BattleMech, which he named Toujours L'Audace.[3][4][5]
Notes[edit]
Dev-level errata has been submitted for Combat Manual: Mercenaries, p. 37, to correct the Alpha Strike stats for Toujours L'Audace.[6]
