John Somers was a notable officer in the Oriente Ducal Guard during the Dark Age Era.[1]

Born on the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey world of Kilarney, Lieutenant Somers used his skills as a MechWarrior to overcome his lack of noble blood or political connections in order to earn a place in the Oriente Protectorate's Princefield Military Academy. Somers was assigned to Oriente's Ducal Guard upon graduating and quickly became part of Operation HOMECOMING's invasion of Atreus. During the heavy fighting around the planet's Imperator Automatic Weaponry facility, Somers performed exceptionally well against the First Regulan Hussars and earned a salvaged Regulan BattleMech to replace his own damaged machine. As a witness to Operation HAMMERFALL, Somers was a zealous supporter of the reborn Free Worlds League and staunchly believed that the League's provinces were safer when working together.[1]
BattleMechs[edit]
Lieutenant SG John Somers piloted a -7M model Trebuchet BattleMech during Operation HOMECOMING. Afterwards, he switched to a salvaged Regulan -9N model Trebuchet.[1]
