Major General Jonas Covington was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 202nd Mechanized Infantry Division from 2763 to at least 2764.[1]

Covington was appointed to command the 202nd Mechanized Infantry Division, following the removal of his predecessor Major General Liam Gravey, for his failures during the withdrawal of the SLDF from the Rim Worlds Republic following the 2755 Birthday Proclamations.
Travelling from VI Corps headquarters on Loxley to the 202nd's posting on Strandfontein in 2763, Covington carried orders direct from SLDF Regular Army Command to relieve and replace Gravey for his incompetence, bypassing the usual chain of command via Twentieth Army and LIX Corps. The breach of usual SLDF etiquette and tradition represented by his assignment caused high tension within his new command.[1]
