Joseph Norton was a Major in the 51st Hussar Regiment.[1]
History[edit]
Norton commanded a small ten-Hussar unit on Wotan in 2630 tasked with suppressing a series of rebellions. The unit, known as "The Fingers of Death" disrupted communications and destroyed supplies for three weeks before the rebels were able to engage them only to watch the Fingers disengage at staggering speeds. After the mission was over only three Hussars had been destroyed, demonstrating the viability of the design.[2][1]
Norton retired in 2642 and published his memoirs on scout and reconnaissance warfare, The Strategy of Support. It went unnoticed for centuries until 3059 when the Alarion Historic Foundation discovered a copy. Since then it has become required reading at the Nagelring.[1]
