Kali Yama Weapons Industries Incorporated was one of the Free Worlds League's largest military suppliers.
Overview[edit]
In 3067, the CEO was Alison Ryce-O’Neil.[1] Under her tenure, Kali Yama Weapons Industries Incorporated capitalized on the Clan Invasion by selling new equipment to the AFFC and DCMS. Though these exported goods had to pay tariffs and as such didn't represent a huge profit for the company, the sheer volume of trade more than made up for any losses. The capital provided by these sales allowed KYWI to update and upgrade its production lines. Their R&D group also worked with the LCCC to develop the Perseus OmniMech.[1]
They easily provided as much matériel to the FWLM as Irian Technologies. As the Kalidasa planetary government joined willingly joined the Word of Blake Protectorate in June, 3070, Kali Yama followed.[2] The Kalidasa plants entered the Word's industrial machine without much trouble, and began producing equipment for the Word of Blake Militia and renegade FWLM units.
Unfortunately for KYWI, the Word had other plans for their engineers. As one of the few military contractors with experience building OmniMechs, the KYWI engineers represented a vast knowledge base that the Blakists wanted to use elsewhere. In late 3070, the Word sent in Light of Mankind operatives who kidnapped the entire engineering staff (including their family members) and shipped them out to parts unknown.[2]
Prior to the Jihad, Alison Ryce-O'Neil was negotiating with the Alphard Trading Corporation in an attempt to gain complete control of the Kendall plant.[1] The Kali Yama - Alphard Trading Corporation plant on Kendall lost contact with the main Kali Yama Weapon Industries office during the Jihad. This caused the Alphard Trading Corporation to pull out of the joint venture, leaving Kali Yama Kendall twisting in the wind.[2]
Manufacturing[edit]
Kali Yama Weapons Industries Incorporated's manufacturing centers have been spared most of the damage of the Jihad. KYWI has manufacturing centers on the following planets:
Kalidasa[edit]
The factory lost about 75% of its staff during the Jihad but was operating at 45% capacity in 3079 with the Hercules, Perseus, Trebuchet, and Wasp lines inactive. It wasn't until the Word's departure in 3077 that Kali-Yama began rebuilding their research division, not wanting a repeat of the 3070 mass kidnapping.[3]
